- Students will learn about the people of Ghana, the Ashanti tribe, and explore the meaning of Adinkra symbols.

Students will explore National Parks and animals in Ghana.
- Students will be able to identify two National Parks in Ghana.
- Students will learn about the Black Star Square and its history.
- Students will explore and learn historical facts about Kakum National Park and Mole National Park.
Students will explore famous landmarks and landforms.
- Students will learn about Lake Volta.
- Students will learn about Wli Waterfall.
- Students will explore and learn about the Kwame Nkrumah Park and Museum.
Students will learn facts about native animals.
- Students will identify native animals and their features.
- Students will identify Ghana’s native animals and Ghana’s national animal
Lesson 3: Overview
Students will learn about language in Ghana.
- Students will learn that the national language is English (63.6%).
- Students will learn that the prefered home language in the south is Twi.
- Students will learn that Twi is a tonal language.
Students will learn to count and speak common phrases in Twi.
- Students will learn to count 1-10 in Twi.
- Students will learn to practice speaking in Twi.
- Students will learn common phrases in Twi.
Students will learn about the Djembe drum and popular festivals in Ghana.
- Students will learn about the history and description of the Djembe drum.
- Students will review a recipe and learn how to make Ghana’s national dish, Fufu.
- Students will learn about the different types of festivals in Ghana.
